This is not a joke - the ice cream diet actually exists. This weight loss plan was created by a reputable health and fitness magazine. According to the magazine, you can lose 10-30 pounds simply following the ice cream diet. They state that, "new research shows that ice cream -when eaten as part of a healthy diet - may actually melt away fat; helping you lose extra pounds faster than if you had abstained."

Basically, you can eat 1 ½ cups of ice cream each day as long as you stay within your suggested caloric intake. Men shouldn't be consuming anymore than 2000 calories a day, and women no more than 1500 calories. As long as you stick within this range, you're allowed a scoop of ice cream as reward.

No wonder this weight loss diet has become popular - who doesn't want to follow a diet that promotes ice cream? The 'cold' truth is, ice cream is high in sugar and fat. No matter how you scoop it, ice cream shouldn't be consumed every single day. Rewarding a person for sticking to their caloric intake is a great way to encourage weight loss; but making the reward a fattening treat can lead to trouble if the dieter loses sight of portion control or gives in to cravings. What may start with one scoop could eventually lead to an entire tub of ice cream.
