Oh, the good ol' coconut oil diet. Just take 2-3 tbsp. of coconut oil a day, and watch the pounds melt off. This ridiculous weight loss diet is another favorite for ridicule. The diet begins like the Atkins Diet , except that this plan follows four phases. The first phase drastically cuts carbs from the diet, and each phase after gradually adds them back. Calories and carbs are seriously restricted on this weight loss diet, and that's what causes the pounds to drop - sorry, coconut oil is not a magical weight loss ingredient.
From a nutritional standpoint, coconut oil is high in saturated fat (that's not the good kind); but according to Calbom, coconut oil is made of medium chain triglycerides which quickly burn up in the body and help to speed up weight loss when combined with a low-carb diet.
You have to love books or diets that proclaim they have the key to 'effortless weight loss' - if only it were possible to sit back, relax and watch the pounds just melt away. Any diet that claims a single food or ingredient can help you lose weight is not telling you the whole story. The Coconut Oil Diet doesn't work, it's as simple as that. Don't waste your time or money attempting this preposterous weight loss diet.
