The F-Plan was originally published in the 1980's by a British author named Audrey Eyton. It was the first high-fiber weight loss diet ever to be published. According to the author, by following this diet of high-fiber foods (which provide bulk) your stomach will fill up and you will eat less throughout the day. She also discusses fiber in its role of helping to prevent diabetes, heart disease and obesity.

Eyton's plan is low-fat high carb, which is quite a different approach from many of the diets on the market today. However, it is very low in fat and in calories, as she recommends restricting your caloric intake to 1000 calories a day. For some, this amount may be too low.

If you decide to follow this weight loss diet, watch out! Several dieters reported excessive flatulence during the first weeks of eating this high amount of fiber. Also, make sure you to drink more water, in order to flush out the fiber.
