Full Name: The Karl Lagerfield Diet

Karl Lagerfield's Diet Review

Fashionable weight loss

Origin: This diet was created by French doctor Jean-Claude Houdret, but was made famous by his patient, Chanel designer Karl Lagerfield, who dropped 92 pounds in 13 months. When he appeared publicly in 2001 looking svelte, media speculated that he was either taking drugs or had liposuction for his drastic weight loss.

Description: The Karl Lagerfield Diet is low-fat, low-carb and very French. Meals consist of lean meat soufflés and light mousses, as well as vegetables. One meal each day must consist of a protein sachet, which is outlined in Karl Lagerfield’s book published in 2004. While dieters can actually eat on this diet, they must limit they intake to between 1,000 and 1,200 calories per day. Jean-Claude Houdret encourages the use of artificial sweeteners and diet sodas.

Likes: Roast guinea fowl, fish soufflé, vegetables and diet soda.

Dislikes: Fatty meats, bread, and fried food.

Looking For: French aristocrats or anyone who enjoys French cuisine.

Works Well With: Dining on the Champs Elysees.

Karl Lagerfield and Jean-Claude Houdret’s diet is an original one, but is not very practical for the masses. Meals consist of dishes like fish soufflé and raspberry mousse, or quail flambé. Who can afford to eat these items regularly, let alone be able to actually cook them? Karl Lagerfield makes no qualms about the fact that his gourmet diet meals are prepared by his personal chef.

The designer and his doctor don’t hold back when they discuss the importance of dieting, and the fact that it isn’t designed to be painless. According to them, pain is beauty and people need to be skinny and beautiful to deserve a place in society. A diet filled up with diet soda, artificial sweeteners and protein sachets may make you lose weight, but you are essentially depriving your body of required nutrients and pumping it full of aspartame.
