Works Well With: Meals from Lanzalotta's bakery in Maine

Based on the top-selling book and newly released movie The Da Vinci Code , another new fad diet book is born. This clever marketing spin was created by a baker named Stephen Lanzalotta from Maine , who had lost a lot of business at his bakery due to the low-carb craze. This weight loss diet was created to convince dieters to come back to carbs, thereby increasing business at his bakery.

The diet is based on the code, or Golden Ratio, which is a mathematical formula existing everywhere in nature. The 'magical code' for this diet takes into account one's body type, and calls for a weight loss diet that is approximately 52% carbohydrates, 20% protein, and 28% fat. The foods to be consumed during this diet resemble those of the Mediterranean Diet , with options such as fish, cheese, vegetables, meat, nuts, wine, and of course, bread.

According to Lanzalotta, every universal pattern is based on this Golden Ratio, and that includes the patterns in our bodies. He suggests that by consuming the right proportions of food as dictated by the code, you'll be able to lose weight and keep it off.

Lanzalotta doesn't have a background in nutrition, which calls into question the validity of this diet. Just a fad? Definitely! The only code this diet will crack is the diet fad code, by capitalizing on the popularity of the controversial movie, and popularizing Lanzalotta's dieting theories.
