You on a Diet - Review

Waist management begins with you

Origin: Doctor and author team Mehmet Oz and Michael Roizen created this manual to help dieters trim their waist size by teaching them about how their bodies store and burn fat. The doctors also collaborated to write, You: The Owner’s Manual.

Description: Through out the Owner’s Manual for Waist Management, Drs. Oz and Roizen teach readers and dieters about their internal organs: how they interact and play a role in body size. The doctors stress that people should look at their waist size instead of their actual weight when trying to lose weight to determine how much they should weigh.

Likes: Fish, nuts and 100 percent whole grains.

Dislikes: Sugar, refined carbohydrates and fatty meats.

Looking For: Anyone who doesn’t own a scale.

Works Well With: A measuring tape.

You on a Diet: The Owner's Manual for Waist Management offers a different approach to dieting, but it isn't revolutionary. People have been measuring their waists for decades. The doctors maintain that waist size is a better indicator of one's body fat than their actual body weight. A two-week program is designed to help dieters find a balance between hunger and feeling satisfied, not full. The doctors reveal foods that fight fat and offer up an exercise program and meal plans. Fish and nuts, for instance, help to decrease the body's inflammatory response and lower the risk of obesity. Foods that contain sugar, on the other hand, are said to be evil because they are converted straight into fat. The food choices dieters consumer should contain no more than four grams of sugar per serving. Drs. Oz and Roizen insist that you will trim two inches off your waist in the beginning of the diet, which is difficult to believe as everyone's body size and metabolism is different.
