The author of a new diet book is convinced that the way to
lose weight and remain healthy is to give up cardiovascular exercise. In his
new book, The Cardio-Free Diet, Jim Karas tries to convince dieters that
cardiovascular exercise is actually bad for the body.
Karas, a weight loss expert who has trained numerous
celebrities including Diane Sawyer, found through his own experiences with
dieting that cardio exercises actually made him eat more, seriously
compromising his ability to lose weight. He also reports that cardio and aerobic
exercises have negative impacts on energy and the joints.
Karas’ diet advocates low fat, high protein foods combined
with weight training exercises. He insists that dieters will not only achieve weight
loss results, they will also gain a sculpted body. Other weight loss experts,
however, are calling Karas’ diet dangerous. According to news reports regarding
the diet, many doctors are worried this diet could dissuade people from
performing exercises that could help to prevent serious health conditions,
including heart disease. There is also evidence to suggest that moderate cardio
exercise is helpful for weight loss and can actually help to prevent joint
problems.
