If you could painlessly lose fat and cellulite by coughing
up several hundred dollars would you do it? A new laser treatment called Accent
is being used by Cosmedicare in Toronto,
Canada. The
treatment is reportedly completely non-invasive; it simply involves running a
laser beam over the skin. According to the company the fat just disappears.
The technology works by using radio frequencies to heat up
the skin and smooth it out, eliminating cellulite. Baby oil is applied to the
area and the laser beam is applied to the skin. Cosmedicare says the procedure
feels like a warming massage. Expect to see a little redness afterwards, but
there is reportedly no downtime. The procedure certainly isn’t cheap. You will
have to spend $800 to get rid of the cellulite on your thighs and $400 for a
dimple-free behind.
The technology is very similar to VelaSmooth, a laser
procedure approved by the Food and Drug Administration in 2005. Treatments cost
up to $2,000, but only last about six months. There is no indication how long
the results of Accent last. If you are one of the majority of women who suffers
from cellulite and have the extra money to fork out on a cosmetic procedure
this may be the way to go. It certainly beats going under the knife.
