Karl Lagerfeld, the mastermind behind Chanel, is now a
mastermind behind his own fashionable weight loss diet. Karl decided it was
time to lose weight when he realized he couldn’t fit the designs worn by his
male models. Karl followed a diet that was developed exclusively by his
physician, Dr. Jean-Claude Houdret. In one year he lost almost 80 pounds
following his
self-created diet.
The Lagerfeld weight loss diet is a combination of mental
and behavioral alterations, that Karl feels are essentials for successful
weight loss. According to him, feeling hungry and food-deprived are essential ingredients
to a successful weight loss plan. Karl feels dieting should be like punishment.
His diet is quite restrictive, as are his personal philosophies.
The diet is a low-fat, low-carb, low-calorie diet, combined
with daily liquid meal replacements. This diet suspiciously resembles the Slim
Fast diet regime.
Karl’s diet, not surprising, is based on outside appearances
and fashion rather than weight loss for health. According to him, if you lose
weight you can wear the super-slim fashions of his designer lines. "A
respectable appearance is sufficient to make people more interested in your
soul," he claims.
Since its publication in 2004, The Karl Lagerfeld diet has
sold only 200,000 copies worldwide. With dismal sales like that, Karl should
stick to his design niche. He’s more successful at selling his fashion pieces
than his dieting secrets.
But he does offer us these profound words, which I’ll leave
for you: “A diet is the only game where you win when you lose.”
