Foods Gout Sufferers Should Avoid

Q: What foods should I avoid to prevent gout?

A: Eating plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains is important for preventing gout. Strawberries and cherries are particularly beneficial. Drink plenty of water as well. Avoid organ meats, mussels, sardines, anchovies, herring, mushrooms, asparagus, fried foods, white flour, sugar and alcohol. Limit your intake of eggs, fish, peas, lentils, spinach, cauliflower, oats and caffeine.
