Diet to Eliminate Belly Fat

Q: I am 45-year-old male and am interested in losing fat in my midsection. I ride my bike everyday, do aerobics 3 times weekly for 40 minutes and lift weights for 20 minutes, 3 times a week. I work my abs for 20 minutes every morning. What’s the best diet to get the nutrients I need without the fat? – Drew

A: The first step is to get rid of water weight. Water is typically stored in the abdominal fat and can contribute to a flabby or pudgy belly. Consume foods that act as natural diuretics like watermelon and cucumber. Cutting out refined carbs like rice and pasta can also help remove water from the midsection. Limit the amount of sugar and salt in your diet as well. Try a diet that is high in lean proteins like poultry, fish, eggs and cottage cheese and get plenty of fiber from vegetables and whole grains.

I am a 52 year old female and I have a very fatty mid section. I look like I am 7mths pregnant. I try to watch what I eat but it keeps growing. My grandmother looked like ahe was about to give birth also. We have small hips and leggs and small arms. This is a real problem for me both mentally an phys. What can I do?
